What does Morpheus8 treatment do?

Morpheus8 is a skin-resurfacing procedure that remodels the deep layers of your skin using microneedling and radiofrequency therapy. The treatment is commonly used to treat wrinkles and scarring, but it can also be used on other parts of the body such as arms and legs.

Resurfacing The Skin

Morpheus8 is a skin-resurfacing procedure that remodels the deep layers of the skin. It’s delivered through microneedling and radiofrequency therapy, which is commonly used to treat wrinkles and scarring.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is also used in this treatment, as it contains growth factors that help heal damaged tissue.

Firmer and Smoother

The Morpheus8 treatment uses a small needle to create tiny punctures in your skin. These wounds will naturally heal themselves by growing new collagen and elastin fibers that help to make your skin look firmer and smoother. The heat of the radiofrequency also works to stimulate cell regeneration.

Many Layers of Skin at Once

Because Morpheus8 targets many layers of your skin at once, it can effectively treat more severe wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars and other types of skin imperfections than typical microneedling or chemical peeling treatments. It also yields better results than laser resurfacing treatments because it’s less invasive and doesn’t damage your outermost skin layers.

When you have Morpheus8 done by a qualified medical professional (such as those listed on the [link to website] page), the treatment creates microscopic channels in the skin that stimulate new collagen production in the dermis—the layer just below your surface epidermis—to fill in lines and creases from aging or sun damage. The treatment also stimulates production of elastin fibers to firm up sagging tissue.

Painless Procedure

RF energy is used to stimulate cell regeneration, a process that’s not painful. The built-in cooling mechanism minimizes pain during the treatment and improves the healing process after it’s done.

Morpheus8 uses RF energy to target many layers of your skin at once. It also provides long-term results; after just one session, you’ll see an improvement in your skin’s appearance that lasts up to six months!

The procedure itself doesn’t hurt—you may experience some slight discomfort while it’s happening, but nothing too bad. If you’re interested in having Morpheus8 done on yourself or someone close to you, visit our website for more information about this amazing new treatment!

Morpheus8 is commonly used on the face, but can also be used on scarring and uneven texture on other parts of the body such as arms and legs.

Overall, Morpheus8 is a great procedure for anyone who wants smoother skin and clearer pores. It’s a safe and effective way to get rid of wrinkles, acne scars and other types of imperfections. The best part about this treatment is that you don’t have to worry about any side effects because it’s not invasive or painful like traditional laser resurfacing treatments. Plus, the results are permanent! If you want more information on how Morpheus8 can help improve your appearance then visit our website today

What is the downtime for Laser Hair Removal?

If you’re thinking about getting laser hair removal, you might be wondering what the downtime is like. The good news is that it’s pretty easy and can be done in just one visit!

The treatment lasts for about 20 minutes to 45 minutes.

The duration of a laser hair removal session varies depending on the size of the area. The larger or more intricate areas, such as your back, will take longer to treat than smaller ones like your arms. Your technician will also ask you to lie down so that they can cover all areas evenly and thoroughly.

The first treatment takes longer than subsequent treatments because it is an initial consultation with your technician and they need time to assess which laser settings would be suitable for you. They also want ensure that they are treating each area correctly so that no harm comes to your skin if there are any side effects from the procedure (which is rare).

Lastly, we advise continuing with at least four sessions before seeing noticeable results; however, this does vary between individuals based on their hair growth rate and skin type!

Self tanning products, tanning beds and sun exposure should all be avoided before the treatment

Because laser hair removal is a treatment that uses light to target and destroy hair follicles, avoiding direct sunlight for at least one week before your session is recommended. The reason for this is because the melanin in your skin can cause complications during laser treatment if it is exposed to intense heat from the laser.

It’s important not to use self-tanning products on your skin prior to your appointment because these products can create buildup of melanin on cells, which could increase risk of burns or scarring during treatment. If you have been using self tanner in the past year or plan on using one before your next session, let us know so we can make sure we don’t perform a procedure that could result in scarring!

You will need to avoid sun exposure after the treatment

You will need to avoid sun exposure after the treatment.

Sun exposure can cause the skin to burn and may lead to irritation, redness and blistering of your skin. You will need to avoid tanning beds, and sun exposure for a week after your treatment. Heat can also cause irritation and burns after the treatment. Vigorous exercise, hot water, steam etc should all be avoided for at least 48 hours after the treatment

The treatment lasts for about 20 minutes to 45 minutes.

The duration of the treatment varies depending on the size of the area being treated. Smaller areas generally take less time to treat than larger ones, but this can also depend on how many sessions you have scheduled. For example, during a first session, the operator may wish to spend more time ensuring that your skin does not react negatively to the laser. Subsequent sessions will likely be shorter since there won’t be any new growth for them to target and therefore no need for new treatments or fine-tuning.

There could be occasional redness and swelling.

You can expect some redness and swelling after your treatment. You should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce any inflammation that occurs. Sun exposure is also a no-no for at least two weeks after your treatment, because it can cause more damage to the skin.

You will be able to resume your regular routine within 48 hours of the procedure and should see an improvement in hair growth in about 3-4 treatments.

Any medication that you are taking for acne needs to be stopped few days before the procedure.

You can resume taking medications for acne after the procedure. However, you must stop taking any medication that you are currently using for acne for at least 7 days before your treatment. This includes topical creams, oral medications and topical gels. It is important to speak with your doctor about this because some medications may increase the risk of complications during laser hair removal. If you are taking Accutane (isotretinoin), it should be stopped at least 1 year before undergoing laser hair removal treatment because it increases the risk of scarring or inflammation if applied to recently treated skin.

You will have to shave the area that is going to be targeted before the procedure.

Shave the area that is going to be targeted with a razor in the direction of hair growth. You should shave your skin within 24 hours of your procedure and never before your treatment.

You should avoid waxing or plucking a few weeks before the treatment.

You should avoid waxing or plucking a few weeks before the treatment. If you go to get your brows done and the technician notices that your skin is very red, she may recommend that you do not get laser hair removal until a certain period of time has passed. This is because it’s not safe to have any new growth on top of old, thickened hair and skin.

There are different kinds of lasers for laser hair removal; some are more effective than others depending on what kind of pigment your hair has. Your doctor will choose which type will work best for you based on whether or not it would be able to remove all the hairs without damaging surrounding tissue in an area where they don’t want any damage at all (like around eyebrows).

Results are not immediate.

The results of laser hair removal are not immediate. After each session, you can expect to see small decreases in the amount of hair at your chosen treatment area. However, it may take several sessions over the course of several weeks or months for you to see noticeable progress.

Treatments should be spaced out about 4-8 weeks apart so that your skin has time to heal in between treatments. This is especially important if you have darker skin tones because they tend to be more susceptible to pigment changes (darkening) or scarring than people with lighter complexions are; therefore it’s better not to apply heat sources too frequently on these areas as this could cause damage and discoloration over time.

Laser hair removal is an easy and safe procedure with little downtime.

  • Laser hair removal is a safe and effective procedure with little downtime.
  • You’ll need to shave the area before your appointment, but it’s not necessary to remove all of the hair. The laser will only target dark hairs, so if you don’t want to shave an entire area, just trim down any light colored or blonde hairs so they’re short enough for the laser to reach them.
  • It’s also important that you stay out of direct sunlight for two weeks after your treatment (you should wear sunscreen). This step is especially important when receiving treatments on both legs at once because exposure to sunlight could cause sunburns on multiple areas simultaneously—and no one wants that!

We hope this article has given you a better understanding of the downtime for laser hair removal and how to prepare for it. If you have any further questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help!

Orbera and Insulin

You know what’s hard? Losing weight.

You know what’s even harder? Keeping it off.

If you’ve tried diet and exercise, but haven’t been able to stick to it long-term, Orbera® Intragastric Balloon may be the solution for you.

The most effective, long-lasting weight loss is being proven to be done by lowering insulin levels.

This is because insulin has been shown to cause many health problems, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.

It also keeps your body from burning fat for energy, so it causes you to store excess calories in your body as fat.

When you have low insulin levels, your body can burn fat more easily. This means faster weight loss and a lower chance of gaining back any weight that you do lose. Low-carb diets are the best ways to lower your insulin levels. The reason for this is because carbohydrates cause your body to release insulin, which then stores fat in your cells. This is why people who eat a lot of carbohydrates tend to have more fat on their bodies than those who don’t eat many carbs at all.

While carbs are one thing that makes insulin get released into the blood stream and causes the weight gain, we need to consider all of the ways that we can lower insulin, which will in-turn make us lose weight.

For the most part, anytime we eat we are causing insulin to be produced. So naturally, if we don’t eat then insulin levels will decrease, and we will lose weight. But wait, that is not all, low insulin levels cause the body to produce at least one hormone that causes the body to mobilize our already stored fat and then we actually lose weight.

When you’re fasting, your body is going to start breaking down your fat stores for energy. The hormone glucagon is what tells the body to do this. Glucagon is released when blood sugar levels are low and it works with insulin and other hormones to turn stored food into energy.

Fasting has long thought to be dangerous and something that causes the body to begin to consume its proteins or muscle and use this for energy. This is just not the case. The body is much smarter that this and actually will utilize the stored fat for energy during periods of time that it’s not receiving energy from the food we eat.

So, we see that whatever we can do to alter the amount of insulin that the body produces the more we will prevent the storage of fat (getting fatter) and the more we will burn the fat that we already have stored (getting skinnier).

At least one other way that we have learned that we can keep insulin levels lower in the body is to use supplements that have been found to naturally lower insulin levels. Some vitamins and supplements that are known to lower insulin levels are: chromium picolinate, vitamin C, magnesium, even apple cider vinegar can lower insulin levels.

Doctors and researchers alike have found that if the food that we eat leaves the stomach more slowly, then the insulin response created by that food is less. Subsequently, this lower insulin levels cause the body to not store as much fat from the food that we inevitably must eat. We cannot fast all of the time.

At Gentle Revive in Lindon Utah, we believe strongly in the detrimental effect of insulin on weight-loss and how lower insulin levels in the bloodstream is the key to losing weight.

At the first of the article, I mentioned another way to keep insulin levels low. That is with the use of a balloon that is inserted into the stomach. The balloon sits in your stomach, filling up space and helping you eat less. Combined with a special eating plan, Orbera® helps lower insulin levels and cause weight loss—people that have Orbera® lose 3.1 times more weight than diet and exercise alone! One of the ways that it does this is by forcing the food we eat to leave the stomach more slowly, thus decreasing the bodies insulin response to that food.

It is because of lower insulin levels that at Gentle Revive we offer the Orbera® weight loss balloon to assist people in their log sought after ability to lose weight and keep it off. In addition to just placing the weight loss balloon Orbera®, from Gentle Revive you will also receive support from our staff throughout the entire process which actually is a total of 12 months of support. You’ll be able to eat all of your favorite foods while losing weight! And did we mention that Orbera® is FDA-approved and proven safe and effective? The balloon is inserted into your stomach by a board-certified, experienced physician in an outpatient procedure without incisions that takes about 20 minutes. It stays there for 6 months and then it can be removed at any time.

If this method of weight-loss is something that interests you, please call or text us and schedule an in-person or virtual consultation with one of our providers to see if this method of achieving your log sought after goals of getting to the weight that you desire is appropriate and safe for you.

The benefits and methods of vaginal rejuvenation

The significant benefits

A vaginal rejuvenation has many positive qualities that go far beyond improved sexual satisfaction, although that is an incredible benefit too. It treats a wide range of issues and medical conditions caused by weakened vaginal tissues.

It restores tightness and functionality of the vaginal area and patients can resume regular activities extremely quickly.

The particular treatment method chosen can be customized to the individual patient and their needs, increasing its effectiveness.

And probably worth mentioning- It increases your partner’s sexual experience as well as your own, improving your self esteem and quality of (sex)life significantly.

How the treatment works

Typically, MonaLisa vaginal rejuvenation treatments consist of 3 total procedures over the course of 18 weeks. All of these treatments are conducted within the doctor’s office in a matter of 5-10 minutes, and do not even require an anesthetic as they are virtually painless.

So, if you’ve experienced changes in your vaginal health since menopause or loss of vaginal muscle tone, it’s OK to talk about it – because now there is a new therapy that really works.

Essentially, MonaLisa Touch Vaginal Rejuvenation can relieve painful intercourse, reduce urinary urgency, restore your satisfaction, and revive your relationship.

Given the immense benefits and stress-free treatment, there’s no reason not to book a consultation. you can reach us here.

Menopause: what’s changing down under?

As you age and as your estrogen levels go down after menopause, your vaginal tissue can atrophy. Great, right? After a lifetime of monthly cycles, hormones raging, and for many, childbirth(s), now this?

Luckily, menopause and post-menopausal effects need not be as dreadful, thanks to some nifty solutions like vaginal rejuvination.

But first, let’s take a look at what actually happens down there…

So, my vaginal tissue might atrophy. What does that mean?

It means your vaginal tissue becomes drier and thinner than it was when you were younger. It may also become inflamed, causing burning, itching, discomfort, and even bleeding.

It can be good to know that because of vaginal atrophy, and as a result of aging you may experience frequent urinary tract infections, stress urinary incontinence, vaginal discomfort or bleeding, chronic urinary tract infections and painful penetration and intercourse.

Goodness, after all that we think it’s time to move on over to that nifty solution, don’t you?

Enter the MonaLisa Touch vaginal rejuvenation treatment. It can help reverse conditions related to menopause-related vaginal atrophy. And for younger women, it can help tighten up stretched vaginal tissue (known as vaginal laxity) that can result after childbirth.

MonaLisa Touch is an innovative, nonsurgical treatment that regenerates vaginal tissues and helps relieve a variety of vaginal health issues.

It is defined as a medical procedure that delivers a type of therapy known as fractional CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser energy to soft tissues, such as the tissue in your vagina.

This gentle laser treatment regenerates vaginal tissue safely and effectively, providing you with a hormone-free, medication-free solution to a range of pelvic health conditions.

Your treatment with MonaLisa Touch occurs comfortably in our offices and requiring no anesthesia. During your treatment, a small probe is inserted into your vagina delivering gentle laser energy to your vaginal tissues. The treatment lasts only about five minutes, and the laser energy delivered by MonaLisa Touch stimulates your vagina to form new blood vessels and increase the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that contribute strength and elasticity to your vaginal tissues.

Best of all, most candidates can return to their normal routine soon after having MonaLisa Touch treatment, although it may be recommended that you refrain from sexual intercourse for two or three days.

At Gentle Revive we have a team of compassionate, experienced women’s care experts that can help you decide whether treatment with MonaLisa Touch is right for you.  So if there are any questions regarding the treatment, and the intricacies thereof, please approach the authorities and Revive Gently.

Vaginal Rejuvenation? Consider the Mona Lisa touch

There are symptoms of menopause that we don’t talk about that often. Painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, extreme vaginal dryness or laxity…

But what we should be talking about is the solution for relief, the MonaLisa Touch Vaginal Rejuvenation.

MonaLisa Touch is essentially a laser therapy used as a treatment for changes in vaginal health typically brought on by menopause. It works by using a gentle laser to stimulate collagen production of the tissues within the vaginal wall.

The treatment involves using a fractional CO2 laser, designed specifically to administer stimulation to vaginal tissue.  This naturally brings about moisture and vaginal rejuvenation.

The fractional CO2 laser used inside the vagina does not cause any pain. The only discomfort experienced by patients may be during the initial treatment, when the laser hand piece is initially inserted into the vagina.  This discomfort stems from the vaginal dryness symptoms, but the majority of patients say the actual laser firing feels like only a slight vibration.

MonaLisa Touch is administered without using hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which makes it ideal for women who choose not to, or are unable to use HRT to treat vaginal dryness.  For example, a number of cancer survivors cannot get hormone therapy because of their medical history. Therefore, this treatment is currently their only real option.

Best Weight Loss Procedure?

The best weight loss procedure is only as good as your determination to lose weight. A procedure will never replace the need for creating new habits and goals. With that being said, obviously there are better weight loss procedures than others.

Almost all the procedures out there involve the stomach. This makes sense because it contains the receptors that say when you’re full and after chewing, is where your food begins to breakdown. So we’re going to focus directly on the weight loss procedures out there that deal with the stomach. Let’s start with the gastric balloon.

Weight Loss Balloon Procedure

Weight loss balloons are relatively new to weight loss procedure options. This option is actually non-surgical, which makes it stand out from other weight loss procedures. To briefly explain how the weight loss balloon works, a physician uses an endoscope down the throat to place a deflated balloon down into the stomach. Once the balloon is down in the stomach, the doctor then inflates the balloon usually with a sterile saline solution.

Once the balloon is in place, it will stay there for a period of a few months. During this time, the balloon takes up space inside the stomach to prevent overeating. This helps the person learn new eating habits and lose weight at the same time. By the time the balloon is removed, the person has learned new eating habits and continue to maintain the weight lost and even continue to lose.

This is the option we offer at Gentle Revive. We use a gastric balloon called Orbera. We’ve found that this is the best weight loss balloon on the market and also the best weight loss procedure because of the fact that it’s non-surgical. This means little to no downtime unlike surgical weight loss procedures. Also, it means that there are no anatomic changes to the stomach. You can always see if Orbera is a good option for you by scheduling a free consultation with us. We’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Read our article about how much you can lose with Orbera.

Orbera patient, Lindsey, explains how Orbera helped her listen to her body.

The other weight loss procedure options we’ll talk about are all surgical. While we don’t recommend these options because they alter the stomach permanently, they are a good option for some people.

Gastric Band Procedure

The gastric band, or lap-band, is one of the more popular weight loss procedures out there. One of the reasons for this is because the procedure is done laparoscopically, meaning that only little incisions are needed to place the band around the top portion of the stomach.

Essentially the band creates a small pouch in the upper part of the stomach. Once that stomach pouch is full, the brain senses fullness and prevents you from continuing to eat.

Although this procedure is not as invasive as other surgeries, it still usually requires general anesthesia and a hospital stay. This procedure is mostly reversible once the treatment with the band is completed. However, there still will be some tissue scarring after the band is removed.

Surgical procedures may not be the best weight loss procedures.

Gastric Bypass Surgery

Gastric bypass surgery is one of the most invasive forms of weight loss procedures. Although it may be beneficial for some people the risks are much greater than the other options we’ve talked about so far.

Bypass surgery involves literally bypassing the majority of the stomach. A surgeon will make an incision at the top of the stomach to create a small stomach pouch. This is similar to the lap band, but the pouch is permanent. After the pouch is created, the small intestine is then routed to connect directly to the pouch. This makes it so the lower portion of the stomach is bypassed completely. The cons to this procedure are that it involves a major surgery, a longer hospital stay, and the changes to your stomach are permanent.

In conclusion, there are a lot of options out there for weight loss procedures. We recommend taking the approach of researching the least invasive first. Since we offer one of these least invasive options, give us a call and schedule a free consultation to see if Orbera is right for you.

How much weight can you lose with Orbera?

With any weight loss method, there can be some variables. The main variable is always the mindset of the individual. There are many tools out there that can help achieve the goal of weight loss. Finding the right one can be difficult. In this article we’ll talk about how much weight you can lose with Orbera.

Diet and exercise seem like a good place to start. We all have heard that diet and exercise are key to weight loss. This is true. We can’t go out and eat whatever we want and sit on a couch all day and expect to see results. We have to have some action. That’s where some of the weight loss tools can help. The tools help push us in the right direction. For instance, a health coach can help provide us with tips and tricks for eating healthier. Although, sometimes this isn’t enough either.

Weight Loss with Orbera

Orbera is one of these tools and it’s one that we offer at Orbera. Orbera is unlike traditional weight loss methods that involve surgery like gastric bypass, lap band, or gastric sleeve. It is completely non-surgical and has little to no downtime.

Orbera is a good option for individuals that are looking to lose 20-30+ pounds and have failed with other weight loss methods besides surgery. Orbera is usually for those with a BMI between 30-40. Things that would disqualify an individual from receiving the Orbera are previous surgeries to the stomach and bowel diseases.

Lindsey talks about how Orbera helped her listen to her body.

How Orbera Works

Orbera balloon shown inside the stomach.

Orbera is a grapefruit sized balloon that is placed into the stomach using an endoscope under mild sedation. Then the balloon is inflated once inside the stomach. The procedure usually takes only 30 minutes and is done in a surgical suite located in our same building. Once we place the balloon, it stays in the stomach for 6 months. During those 6 months and for 6 months after, you meet with Dr. Cherrington and our dietitian every month as part of one of the Orbera program options we offer. After the 6 months, we remove the balloon in the same way we placed it. Orbera deemed safer than weight loss surgeries like the lap band or gastric sleeve because it’s completely reversible, meaning that no part of the anatomy of the body was altered.

How the Orbera gastric balloon works.

As an added bonus, at Gentle Revive we offer a few extra perks that we’ve included into our Orbera program options. Things like a year of our silver or platinum memberships and free Morpheus8 radio frequency microneedling treatments are just a few of these bonuses.

In conclusion, Orbera is a safe tool for weight loss. Many people have lost the stubborn weight with Orbera, but determination to lose weight is the key. For most people it’s the last thing they try, but the first thing that works. To find out if Orbera is right for you, reach out to us and we can answer any questions you may have.

A New Era of Liposuction

I remember back in medical school and residency watching some liposuction cases. I distinctly remember thinking that those surgeries were pretty cool. Great results, and in just one day. The drawback was that the surgeries were pretty invasive to the body and there was a lot of downtime. There were large cannulas (tubes) connected to suction pumps, patients under general anesthesia, and many postoperative complications. Some of those complications were blood clots to the lungs, legs and even death. For many years, and through my years as a family medicine doctor, I have always thought that it would be great to do cosmetic type surgeries where people had great results and in short periods of time. I was always taken aback by the high rate of complications and missed time off work for “just a cosmetic procedure”.

Now, many years down the road, and after a long time of delivering babies, doing cesarean deliveries, many procedures in the office including endoscopy of the stomach, vasectomies and other surgical procedures too numerous to count, I decided to look into liposuction. It has always stuck in the back of my mind as something that I wanted to do someday.

I was really surprised and pleased when I found how liposuction is done now in 2019. The procedure is very safe. It is done with a type of local anesthesia, called tumescent anesthesia, which is numbs the same fat layer that is being removed with liposuction. It allows the surgery to be done with the person completely awake and all the time not feeling anything more than some tugging, pushing and strange sensations as the fat is extracted from the areas we are treating. Often areas that are just completely resistant to diet and exercise. If that is not enough, liposuction is now done with very small tubes or cannulas instead of the large “garden hose” sized tubes used back in the day. This allows the fat to be removed more slowly and evenly for a more fine, smooth skin appearance after it is all said and done. I was also astounded to discover that the complications rates are next to nothing and recovery times are just a couple of days. Areas that are now treated are under the arms, under the chin, knees and nearly all other locations where this stubborn fat resides.

If that is not all enough change from back in past times, liposuction is now assisted with lasers. Lasers allow for a smoother result and because of the heat from the laser that is applied to the skin’s undersurface to help tighten skin. Loose skin was historically a drawback to removing fat with liposuction, leaving the skin flabby. Bleeding is also much less with the use of lasers as the laser beam coagulates off the small blood vessels that would otherwise tend to bleed and cause complications. One negative to the use of lasers was that the actual surgery time is a bit longer, but the trade-off of better results, less bleeding and fewer complications surely seems to outweigh the bit of extra time for the procedure.

I thought all of those benefits were amazing, but when I found that liposuction done in this manner is one of the most performed surgeries in the US today, I knew that I needed to learn even more. There was surely more to learn. Much to my surprise, liposuction is not only being done by plastic surgeons. Family doctors, emergency room physicians, hospitalists, gynecologists and believe it or not, I’ve heard of an orthopedic surgeon that is doing liposuction surgeries. As more doctors are performing this surgery it has become much more performed and the cost has come down significantly to a range that most anyone can afford.

Liposuction is so safe now that it is never done in hospitals anymore, and is always performed in an office or small operative suite, usually in the doctor’s office.

For myself and my decision to start performing this simple surgery, all of these benefits for the patient made it an easy decision to seek extra training and build an operative suite where people can come and get this affordable cosmetic surgery that has results so fast and dramatic.

The way that liposuction or SmartLipo, as it is called when it is done with the assistance of lasers, is done is by first finding a surgeon and clinic or spa to do the liposuction. You want a surgeon that is excited about helping patients feel better about themselves and their body, and really cares to take the time to talk to the patient and explain what is going to happen before, during, and after the surgery. It’s important to find a doctor and office that has the ability and desire to be there for the patient and be available should any problems arise even after the surgery is performed.

The patient having liposuction will have a health screening to assure that there are no health problems that would put you at unnecessary risk of complications. This is done by having a physical exam and communicating to the doctor any and all medical problems, and medications that are being taken. Some  medications need to be stopped, for a time, prior to liposuction. After this exam the patient is scheduled for a day to have the surgery.

On the day of the surgery the patient should eat a small meal and be driven to the clinic or surgery center by a family member or friend. Ride sharing or a taxi is not recommended to come to the appointment for the surgery. The patient then signs consent forms and before pictures are taken. Before and after pictures are always required to help document results. These pictures can sometimes be used by the doctor for marketing or showing to other patients, with consent only, from the person whose pictures they are.

After pictures are taken, 3 medications are taken. An antibiotic, a pain pill, and an anxiety pill are given to the patient and the patient is taken to the operative suite where cleansing and sterilization of the surgical site/s are performed. Then very small 1.5 to 2mm holes are placed around or inside the area that is going to get liposuction. These are the holes that the surgeon uses to access the fat that will be removed. The area is then anesthetized with lidocaine, and the laser is used to kill fat cells and shrink excess skin in the parts of the body that are being treated. The last part of the liposuction is to use the small cannulas to remove as much fat as in needed. It’s important to know that all fat is not removed. The surgeon balances taking out enough fat to get the desired look, without taking out too much for your health.

The holes that are used to access the fat are not closed after the surgery. They are so small that they are left to close on their own. They also act as drains to let the excess fat and fluid drain out of the body where the procedure was done. The holes will drain for 2-4 days depending on the site that is treated.

A compression garment is then used to hold pressure over the area that was treated. This does many things including helping to get the fluid out, helping the tissues heal well, and prevent seromas or fluid collections in areas that have had the fat removed. The compression garment also does much to help with discomfort that one can feel after the liposuction surgery.

Most people are up and about the next day, but not to work or heavy housework just yet. On the third day, people are usually feeling really good and are able to do most things normally with some discomfort. Most people describe the discomfort as muscle pain in the body that occurs a few days after a hard workout.

A week after liposuction, the patient is seen in the clinic by the surgeon to make sure all is going well and no complications and/or take care of any problems there maybe. For the holes that are healing, even though they are very small, we offer a complimentary treatment with a laser that can help the body heal with a better chance of having no little scars.

The most important of all of this is that the patient gets results quickly and with very little down time.

WarmSculpting vs. CoolSculpting

If you have looked into getting a non-surgical treatment that will take away fat, you’ve probably already heard of CoolSculpting. Utah County has many locations that do CoolSculpting, but Gentle Revive is the only place that you can get the newer and better way to sculpt. WarmSculpting

How are WarmSculpting and CoolSculpting alike?

WarmSculpting and CoolSculpting are, as you may imagine, similar in some ways. That is why they compete against each other. You would not compare these treatments to liposuction, a weight loss procedure like gastric bypass, or a balloon treatment. WarmSculpting and CoolSculpting reduce areas of stubborn fat. They work best for people who have a healthy lifestyle, and have pockets of fat that just won’t budge. You know what I’m talking about: the pudge on your belly, the bra fat or love handles, the double chin in every photo, areas that if you could just take that one bulge off, you’d feel a thousand times better.

Both heat and cold easily destroys fat cells. However, the temperature changes are not so extreme as to affect other kinds of cells. Cool and Warm Sculpting treatments are FDA approved, and both involve no needles, no anesthesia, and no downtime. They can both treat the same areas, and the fat cells are gone forever. Yep, permanent fat reduction. Both treatments rely on the lymphatic system to dispose of the destroyed fat cells. With both you will have your final results in about 3 months. So, from here, you may wonder how to best choose one over the other.

Why is WarmSculpting better for the body?

WarmSculpting with SculpSure really is the better way to sculpt, as the technology has increased. It fixes some of the major issues that came with CoolSculpting. It uses hyperthermic lasers to destroy fat cells and tighten the skin. The heat from the laser works with the heat from your skin, instead of against it. This causes beautiful feathering of results as the heat dissipates away from the area the applicator is in, giving you smooth contouring. It uses four applicators during each treatment, so you can get a very customized result right where your trouble spots are.

One treatment takes away 24% of fat cells in the area. It heats the fat cells to between 107.6 and 116.6°F liquifying them so the body may easily remove them. WarmSculpting is a very versatile treatment that can target multiple areas at the same time. This makes your treatment easy and quick. At its worst, WarmSculpting can feel like strong cramps. We are able to adjust it to give you a comfortable and effective treatment.

As the laser is heating the fat cells beyond repair, it is also stimulating collagen production in the skin. This means there will be no sagging skin, but rather lift and firmness in the areas we treat. It takes only 25 minutes, and 96% of patients report that they are happy with their results.

The side effects of WarmSculpting with Sculpsure is slight redness that may last up to half an hour. Also, some nodules that go away with massage as the lyphatic system processes the destroyed cells. There is also a slight soreness for a week or so as the body processes the cells. As for price, WarmSculpting is definitely the cost efficient way to go. We will do WarmSculpting for about half the price of CoolSculpting, and the more areas you want to have done, the more of a discount we give you.

How does CoolSculpting compare to WarmSculpting?

There are many ways that they are the same, and there are some very important things to know about how they are different from each other. Some of the major issues that come with CoolSculpting are painful pulling tugging, and numbness during the treatment. Patients with sensitive skin or thicker fat deposits find that having the fat suctioned into the applicator is too painful to do.

During the treatment the single CoolSculpting applicator suctions fat between two cooling plates. The tissue is cooled to 39°F where the fat cells are turned into “ice crystals”, that the body then eliminates. You can expect a 23% reduction in fat cells in the area. Although patients must have enough fat to be sucked into the applicator, and only that fat can be treated.

After the treatment the patient is massaged briefly to warm the skin and break up the fat cells. Though brief, it is painful. CoolSculpting can take between 35 minutes to an hour for each treatment area. This can make it a far more extensive, expensive, and time demanding process. Though 73% of patients report that they are happy with their treatment results. Side effects to CoolSculpting include tenderness, redness, bruising, nodules and swelling in the area treated.
